“Madea’s Big Happy Family” unveils cast (Bow Wow as a drug dealer!) movie poster, spring release date

Miss Madea? Never fear, Lionsgate has just announced that Tyler Perry‘s mischievous matriarch will be back in theaters on April 22 with her latest outing “Madea’s Big Happy Family.”

The movie’s first teaser poster, (see image at right) a send up of “Mario Puzo‘s The Godfather,” natch, made its debut on the film’s official Facebook page Wednesday.

For those of you who didn’t see the stage play during its extensive national run last year, here’s the basic plot: Madea (played of course, by writer/director Perry) comes to the aid of ailing niece Shirley (played by divine character actress Loretta Devine) as she attempts to gather her adult kids to break some bad news about her health. Naturally, drama, chaos, pistol waving and hilarity ensue.

One interesting casting note: Atlanta rapper and actor Shad Moss (perhaps better known as the artist formerly known as Lil Bow Wow) is now all grown up and plays Byron, one of Shirley’s kids, who returns from a two-year stint in prison and is being tempted to deal drugs again in the flick.

And of course, real-life Atlanta married couple David Mann and Tamela Brown Mann reprise their roles as the “Meet the Browns” father and daughter.

Plus, Perry kept his word to a budding star. After surprising actor Isaiah Mustafa with a role in the film on “Oprah” last year, Mustafa appears in “Happy Family” as Calvin. Mustafa is perhaps best known for his series of silly, surrealist Old Spice TV commercials (“Look at your man, now back to me, now back at your man, now back to me! I’m on a horse.”) that made him a Youtube and talk show sensation last year.
