Actor Dennis Quaid traded the quaintness of Covington for the bustle of Buckhead over the weekend.

On Saturday night, Quaid and his wife Kimberly were spotted relaxing at the St. Regis hotel where we’re told respectful Atlantans graciously gave up their couch in the lounge so the Quaids could sit.

On Sunday, Quaid was spotted shopping at Whole Foods in Buckhead.

Quaid is in town playing the dance-dissing Rev. Shaw Moore in the “Footloose” remake currently shooting in the Covington area. Traffic reports Monday morning indicated that roads in and around downtown Hiram had been closed down for filming.

The “Footloose” reboot also stars  Andie MacDowell as the rev’s wife, “Dancing with the Stars” alum (and Ryan Seacrest squeeze) Julianne Hough playing Ariel Moore first played by Lori Singer in the 1984 original and newcomer Kenny Wormald sliding into the sneakers of Ren McCormack first played by another newcomer at the time, Kevin Bacon.

Quaid picks up the Bible-thumping theatrics from John Lithgow, the preacher papa in the original who warned against the sins of rock n roll and its “relaxed morality.”

While many film-goers considered the reverend as the villain of “Footloose, Intel personally viewed the power ballad “Almost Paradise” crooned by Loverboy frontman Mike Reno and Heart member Ann Wilson in the flick to be far more dastardly a presence.
