A note from Sean McGinnis, President & Publisher:
In keeping with our commitment of providing a complimentary digital edition to our growing audience, we are excited to share with you the June issue of Atlanta magazine, brought to you by Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism. In this issue, you will enjoy another incredible lineup of great and timely stories.
With this issue, we both celebrate and underscore the significance of Atlanta’s restaurant scene along with suggestions for what we, as patrons, can do to help our favorite dining destinations—from purchasing dining bonds to ordering takeout and taking advantage of curbside service. Of note are the unique dining experiences we all cherish along Buford Highway and the impact COVID-19 has had on this particular corridor. Our Dining Editor, Mara Shalhoup, describes what these past few months of quarantine have meant for her—keeping in mind her passion is to write about food and the dining experience—as she pivots to talking about her life in “Takeout.” June always means it’s time for our annual Women Making A Mark program. This year’s honorees include twelve incredible women in our city who are having significant impacts on our community as leaders of non-profits, businesses, arts, medicine, and much more. We hope you are as inspired by their stories as we were.
As we begin the transition from this time of self-quarantine to “the new normal,” Atlanta magazine continues to see an increase in engagement with both our print and digital content. We remain committed to telling the stories of Atlanta that resonate with all of us and hope you enjoy this June issue. While we will always remain dedicated to delivering compelling stories in print, we are excited to bring you this digital edition as a complement to the print issue and, by so doing, extend our reach even further.
We hope you enjoy.
