Eclectic selection debuts at Savor Wine Boutique

When Kyla Cox of Kirkwood’s newest wine shop, Savor Wine Boutique, said she would be stocking wine from Georgia, I secretly hoped that she was referring to the country. I didn’t even know if the country made wine, but I assumed that whatever grapes were there had to be better than anything from *this* Georgia.

East Lake vineyard produces very private label

This past Sunday, I had finished my first glass of wine by 10 a.m. The second glass came about a half-hour later.A little early, even for me. But this was a special occasion: I was witnessing an annual celebration of a local fruit, here in the East Lake Commons communal kitchen. A few residents were starting a batch of muscadine wine, made with native grapes from their own farm, Gaia Gardens.

But for now, the focus is on completing construction. And brewing beer.

Orpheus Brewing is easily one of Atlanta’s most anticipated new breweries, set to open next their taproom overlooking Piedmont Park next weekend. The founders credit The Porter Beer Bar for helping bring their idea to life, so it’s no surprise that the latest member of the Orpheus family is Rebecca Royster, a familiar face to anyone who frequented The Porter over the past five-and-a-half years.
