Just over a week ago—an eternity in 24/7 media time—the New York Times reported on a Harvard/Berkeley study that examined the geography of upward mobility: in other words, does where you are born determine your chances of getting ahead?

Those of us who work Downtown know that getting a good Wi-Fi signal is harder than finding a stretch of sidewalk not disrupted by streetcar construction. If the laptop brigade at Starbucks isn’t slurping bandwidth, it’s blocked by all the highrises.
The giant Ferris wheel is almost finished
After much hype (and a little delay) the 200-foot SkyView Atlanta Ferris wheel now has an opening date: Tuesday, July 16. There will be a noon ribbon-cutting ceremony prior to the first gondola’s circumnavigation, and SkyView spokesman Jason Evans says he expects a big crowd.
