Here’s a quick synopsis of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service: James Bond, played by George Lazenby (for the first and only time), travels in disguise to a remote research facility (literally) on top of a Swiss mountain to spy on super-villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Thuggish henchmen take Bond through the facility and deposit him in his room where he is told he can’t leave without an escort. Sinister indeed. He’s later retrieved and escorted to dinner; you half-expect to see Blofeld grinning maniacally from a high-backed chair, stroking his trademark white cat. Rather, Bond walks in on an array of scantily-clad women.

Just like those rare collectibles on eBay, Jane Fonda’s canary yellow 2013 Oscars dress, personally created for her by designer Donatella Versace on display Thursday night, had a Buy It Now price for the time-crunched consumer: $50,000. The dress served as the eye-catching silent auction centerpiece at the annual EmPower Party benefit for the Fonda-founded Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential at the Georgia Aquarium downtown.

When the live auction bidding temporarily stalled at the Atlanta premiere of Jane Fonda's new film, "Peace, Love & Misunderstanding" at Symphony Hall Tuesday night, the two-time Oscar winner and Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention founder took to the microphone herself. On the auction block at the G-CAPP fundraiser: A five-day stay at Fonda's ex-hubby Ted Turner's 100,000-plus acre Flying D Ranch in Montana. "I know a lot about this one!" cracked Fonda as the crowd roared. "Visiting this ranch is like visiting Africa. It's bigger than metro Los Angeles. Oh, and it's got a beautiful guest house that I decorated!" The trip ended up fetching $14,500. The CNN founder's name also popped up when Fonda helped to auction off a 2012 trip to the Grammys, complete with an introduction to the now-Los Angeles resident's personal hairstylist and a hike with the Hollywood icon up to the Hollywood sign. "But it's not a bad hike," Fonda explained. "Ted would do it!" The trip went for $18,000.

Clearly Atlanta’s adopted son Tyler Perry is the most polarizing African American entertainment figure of our time. When it was announced last fall that Perry would team with the almighty Oprah to produce original series for her network OWN, there were many raised eyebrows.
