Retiring in Georgia

It won't hurt your wallet so much to grow old in Georgia as in many other parts of the country. A private room in a nursing home here costs $63,875/year on average, which is less than the national media rate of $81,030.

Infographic of the Day: Atlanta ranked Third Funniest City in U.S.

According to a recent study conducted by the Humor Research Lab (HuRL) at the University of Colorado, Atlanta, along with Washington D.C., gives birth to the most top comedians per capita among major U.S. cities. Animal Planet: Atlanta ranks No. 6 for rats

In some cases, placement on the list is rooted in ancient history; Deshnoke, India, for instance, is home to a temple where rats are worshipped. Rats thrive in overgrown lawns and derelict structures. If this isn’t the beginning of a real-world The Walking Dead, then perhaps the list can at least draw our attention to the ecological effects of prolonged urban abandonment.

You're more likely to find someone sporting 19th-century goggles, a bustier, a pocket watch, and a machine arm while riding a skeletal, steam-powered tractor in Atlanta than you are in any other U.S. city.
