Today marks a monumental anniversary: fifty years since the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom and Atlanta native son Martin Luther King Jr.‚Äôs iconic ‚Äúdream‚ÄĚ speech. Amid all the discussion of how far we‚Äôve come and how far we need to go, it‚Äôs worth reflecting on how King‚Äôs legacy is reflected in his hometown.

Atlanta magazine was launched in May 1961, just a three months before the city‚ÄĒbelatedly and under court order‚ÄĒintegrated its public schools.
