On the evening of March 17, Neiman Marcus will roll out the red carpet and an unorthodox accessory for guests at its Lenox Square location: an open bar. The high-end retailer is hosting the fifth annual Fine Art + Fashion benefit for the National Black Arts Festival.
The evening, hosted by comic Steve Harvey, will honor fashion designer CD Greene. The celebrity couture creator’s work has been worn by the likes of Oprah Winfrey and the Sex and the City cast. Other honorees include Atlanta visual artist Radcliffe Bailey, author-poet Danny Simmons, and designer Jada Loveless.
Stargazers, be advised: Chances are excellent that Bailey will attend with wife and former Young and the Restless actress Victoria Rowell. The two met, after all, at an NBAF event here in 2007 when Rowell’s book tour for her memoir made a stop in Atlanta.
Organizers are keeping mum, meanwhile, on the young person selected as this year’s recipient of the M. Jack Anderson Emerging Talent Award. The prize, named for Fine Art + Fashion chairwoman Sandra Anderson Baccus’s late brother, recognizes a fashion-forward college student with designs on a future in the industry.
