Leather couches, swirl rugs, and sheer curtains adorn this mod venue stretching across the rooftop of the W Atlanta- Buckhead. Guests ascend in a glass elevator and emerge onto an outdoor walk that leads to the dim, candlelit lounge. Pick from a seasonal selection of drinks such as the vanilla mint-tini and take in the Midtown skyline on one of two terraces. This sprawling wine bar in the Luckie Marietta district may seem swanky—posted rules include “no Bluetooth, no excessively baggy clothing, no muscle tees”—but the staff is friendly, and comfy couches and plenty of nooks encourage casual interaction. Choose from more than ninety wines by the glass and 230 by the bottle; half-price bottles are available every Tuesday, while Wednesday tastings explore variations on a theme. From the folks behind MJQ Concourse comes the more staid but equally singular Bookhouse Pub, a Poncey-Highland watering hole named for the secret society on Twin Peaks. Draft offerings span high-gravity Belgian beers and raspberry Lindemans, and you can follow up duck confit or arugula salad with an order of funnel cake. The strip-mall exterior masks a rich, Gothic interior of dark wood, stained glass, totems, and, of course, books.
