This just in: Fifth Group Restaurants confirmed Monday that it will debut a new seafood eatery named Lure in the now-shuttered Vickery’s space on Crescent Avenue in Midtown. The group operated by partners Robby Kukler, Steve Simon and Kris Reinhard has purchased the property that once housed the popular casual dining destination and plan to debut Lure in early 2012.

This is the first time Fifth Group will own the property for one of the company’s restaurants. “Fifth Group began in Midtown with the opening of South City Kitchen on Crescent Avenue 18 years ago,” reflects Robby Kukler in an email sent to Dish. “It’s very significant for us to be able to continue growing our company by owning a restaurant property on that very same street.”

Micah Willix, currently the top chef over at Fifth Group’s popular Ecco restaurant a few blocks away in Midtown has been tapped to oversee Lure’s menu in addition to his current duties.

Look for Ai3 and Bill Peace of Peace Design to knock down the walls both inside and out as they recreate the 140-seat eatery at 1106 Crescent Avenue.
