After 14 years on Pharr Road, Taka Sushi and Passion closed on March 5 to make room for a new apartment complex. Owner/chef Taka Moriuchi has since been running a temporary, dinner-only pop-up at the Café at Pharr. But he won’t be there for much longer, he hopes. Moriuchi says that the new Taka in the Sandy Springs Gateway complex should open in May.

The new Taka will have a similar menu of sushi, sashimi, and noodle dishes, with the addition of traditional rice bowls called donburi, he says. There will be a full bar with an expanded sake list, as well as Asian-influenced cocktails.

The space will seat 65 and will have high ceilings and elements of glass, stone, and wood. Don’t expect a big sign out front either. Diners will have to recognize Taka’s logo or simply know where to go. (Hint: the address is 4600 Roswell Road, Suite #110.)
