It’s International IPA Day! Go have yourself a hoppy one. While you’re sipping, check out these recent and forthcoming releases from Midtown-based Orpheus Brewing.

Available Now

Peace.War.Truth.Lie., a 5% ABV session IPA, is a nice way to close out the summer. This is the second beer in Orpheus’ Bone Tablet IPA series, which explores the many flavor possibilities of the IPA style (Transmigration of Souls was the first). Mild on bitterness and big on citrus and tropical fruit, this session is on draft now—but look for cans in September.

Released This Week

Hop Experiment #1 is an IPA (7% ABV) brewed with Hallertau Blanc German hops. Named for Sauvignon Blanc, Hallertau Blanc lends a grassy flavor with gooseberry (slightly sour, grape-like) notes. This is a one-off style that will be gone once it sells out, and only available on draft (take heed, the brewery’s tagline is “Don’t Look Back”).

Lyric Ale, a hoppy saison (6.5% ABV), joins Atalanta as the second year-round beer. The brewery says to expect big fruit and spice flavor, courtesy of their own saison yeast blend, along with Galaxy (tropical, grassy) and Azacca (mango, citrusy) hops. Lyric Ale is available on draft and will be in six-pack cans in September.

On The Way

Next up in the sour rotation, Orpheus rep Rebecca Royster says blueberry sour Wandering Blues is “coming soon,” possibly within a couple of weeks. Made from a wild sour mash, this 7% ABV saison features blueberries cold-pressed by local fruit guru Arden’s Gardens. A seasonal release available late summer to early fall, this one will return to market next year.
