Locomotion logoChamblee is the latest metro Atlanta city to get its very own brewery. Chase Medlin, formerly head brewer at Twain’s Brewpub & Billiards in Decatur, is opening Locomotion Brewing Company at 3588 Broad Street next February. Though it will be closed to the public for the first few months to focus on distribution, Locomotion will eventually offer tastings, tours, and even an art gallery.

“The general focus is delicious, world-class beers,” Medlin says. “The majority will be American-style, but the quality and flavor is paramount. We’ll have everything from crisp and refreshing table beers and IPAs to barrel-aged cocktail-inspired beers.”

He’ll start with just two styles—he won’t reveal which just yet—and plans to host launch events around town while marketing his brews to local restaurants and bars. Later, Locomotion will be open Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons, offering a climate-controlled art gallery as part of the tasting room, bar games like corn hole and shuffleboard, food trucks, and restaurant-pop-ups.

Medlin says the 21,000-square-foot space will be artful and unique. “Locomotion means to move from one place to another. It represents the way we like to live in terms of staying in motion, living life to the fullest, imbibing, and enjoying all the beautiful parts of life whether it’s travel, sports, food, drink, art, or outdoors,” he says. “It also pays homage to Atlanta being the original rail hub of the South.”
