After a month of fasting, Muslims celebrate the end of Ramadan with a feast. A photo gallery of what they’re cooking up; from our August 2012 issue.

Sweets are an important part of celebration Eid, the holiday that marks the end of Ramadan and the month of fasting. Abeer Bahhur prepares kanefeh—shredded phyllo dough, bright orange from food coloring, layered with hot, soft cheese, and brushed with warm sugar syrup.
