Atlanta Contemporary Art Center

To celebrate its fortieth anniversary, the center staged a successful $600,000 capital campaign and totally revamped its space in an old Standard Oil facility. Architects Brian Bell and David Yocum of Bldgs added windows and replaced cubed glass with clear, flooding the reconfigured galleries with light—the better to showcase cutting-edge contemporary art from around the world. A recent Andy Warhol Foundation grant is boosting the mission of this non-collecting institution, which also offers educational programs and subsidized studios for fourteen resident artists.
