Georgia Museum of Art
As the official state museum of art and a teaching laboratory located on the University of Georgia campus, the Georgia Museum houses a notable permanent collection (ranging from Italian Renaissance paintings to a stellar Southern folk sampling) and hosts significant exhibitions. The museum, which was expanded by 16,000 square feet in 2011, also encompasses a sculpture garden and a serene cafe with goodies by Athens favorite Ike & Jane. Admission is free.
