 Barcelona’s buzzy verve, broad menu of tapas and shareable plates, and especially its love letter of a wine list are hard to resist. As soon as it opened in 2011, the place became a beacon for the thirty-plus set that has outgrown DayGlo martini troughs like Buckhead’s Twist. And in a town that currently favors serious cocktails and craft beer, the audacity of Barcelona’s wine list deserves a chorus of praise. It’s so fantastically unfamiliar, compelling you toward Spain, Portugal, and South America. For the most satisfying grazing, go for straightforward tapas like potato tortilla (Spain’s classic omelet), albóndigas (fluffy meatballs in tomato sauce), and sauteed shrimp perfumed with garlic and sherry.
