Buy the Bone BBQ

In 2012, new owners took over the Stone Mountain roadside stand that previously housed Garden Produce and Country Store, a laudable barbecue joint with a misleading name. Plan on carryout; one table with mismatched chairs typically comprises the seating area. All the meats thwack the palate with an almost-bitter smokiness. That’s particularly true of the ribs, though the smoke ring is a mere blush and the soft texture is more akin to grilling than smoking. Go for the juicy pulled pork instead, and skip the generic coleslaw and potato salad in favor of the custardy mac and cheese and the cabbage cooked to deep caramelization.
