Humble House
This standout counter in the food court of the Great Wall Asian supermarket, a Chinese-owned grocery that opened in 2010, doles out fiery Northern Chinese dishes such as cold tofu noodles with scallions, hot boiled spicy fish fillet, shredded pork in wine sauce, and ma po tofu with ground pork. Friendly servers go the extra step of presenting food on real plates (as opposed to disposable dinnerware), and steamy rice comes in a covered lacquer bowl. Among the options is a crunchy snack for the adventurous: deep-fried chicken skeleton with whole cumin seeds and hot peppers. There is a $10 minimum if you want to use a credit card (no American Express), and unlike some of the other vendors, Humble House closes shop on Tuesdays.
