Moe’s Original Bar B Que

Longtime Atlantans will remember where Cuban sandwich favorite Kool Korners stood on the corner of Fourteenth and State streets. It closed in 2008 and reopened in Birmingham a year later. Its original building was torn down and replaced by a square, brown brick construct that now houses Moe’s, a barbecue chain founded in Alabama and now based in Colorado. (It has no relation to the local Southwest grill franchise with a similar name.) Skip the soggy ribs and pulled pork, but zero in on the poultry: Pulled chicken and sliced turkey both have a subtle, perfumed smokiness and come dressed with a mix of lightly sweet tomato sauce and Alabama white sauce.
