Built on a vision of healing and hope, Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), Atlanta, knows that it takes a team of experts to fight a complex disease like cancer. That’s why nearly 200 physicians—including 2019 Top Doctors Rabih Bechara, Scott Shelfo, John McKnight, and Mahdi Taha—call CTCA home.
Together, these highly trained physicians and clinicians specialize in the treatment of adult cancer patients and deliver a coordinated approach to care that combines surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy with advancements in precision cancer treatment and supportive therapies designed to manage side effects and enhance quality of life, both during and after treatment.
Accredited by the Joint Commission, the Commission on Cancer, and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, CTCA Atlanta understands that cancer carries an unrivaled sense of urgency to find the right care at the right place at the right time. That’s why we developed our disease-focused centers, which bring together multidisciplinary teams of clinicians focused on specific cancer types. Our Breast Cancer Center is just one example. Composed of medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists and researchers who have expertise in a broad range of diseases, including metastatic, triple-negative, and inflammatory breast cancer, our Breast Cancer Center care team also has expertise in treating patients’ side effects, such as lymphedema.
As a comprehensive cancer care and research center, CTCA Atlanta also offers qualified patients advanced genomic testing and a range of clinical trials that may reveal new treatment options supported by scientific and investigational research, including the Targeted Agent Profiling Utilization Registry (TAPUR) Study, the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s first-ever clinical trial.
It’s hard to believe we opened our doors seven years ago. Now, thanks to the Georgia General Assembly’s support of change that gives Georgia patients more options in cancer care, we stand ready to serve patients from Atlanta and across the state for years to come—all while staying true to our mission, vision, values, and a guiding principle we call the “mother standard” of care, which inspires us to treat each patient like we’d want our own families to be treated.
