Now that swimming pools are officially open, the CDC has to come out with a study to ruin the fun.
Most public pools have E.coli, which indicates fecal matter in the water, either from people (hopefully babies?) having accidents in the pool or from swimmers not showering well enough before they get in the water. Makes you want to dive right in, doesn’t it?
The CDC has recommendations to help avoid the grossness:
• Shower with soap before swimming.
• Don’t swim when you have diarrhea.
• Wash your hands after going to the bathroom or changing diapers.
• Bring your own pool test strips and check the chlorine level and pH before getting in the water.
• Don’t swallow the water.
You may also want to consider staying out of the pool completely.
