Tucked away on a quiet cul-de-sac in Atlanta’s exclusive 30327 zip code is a private three-acre estate surrounded by lush grounds, serene woods, and 240 feet of lake frontage. The centerpiece of the peninsula property is a Mediterranean-style home designed by acclaimed local architect William T. Baker, who is known for his attention to detail and keen eye for scale and proportion.

The estate, owned by one of city’s most successful telecommunications executives, is in the highly coveted Mount Paran-Northside section of Buckhead. Located near Chastain Park, the area boasts some of the grandest homes in the city, many of which are within walking distance of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.

The homeowner purchased the newly constructed house in 2011. At the time, he was a single dad and wanted a large home with a big lot for his children. But the litmus test was whether his then-fiancée (now wife) liked the place. Fortunately, she loved it, although she made a few cosmetic changes, including customizing the closets.

The six-bedroom, seven-and-a-half bath house features a private gated entrance with a brick herringbone-patterned driveway and motor court. The main level includes a large foyer, uniquely designed round study, walnut-paneled family room, and a spacious master suite with his-and-her bathrooms, custom dressing rooms, and a sitting room. The kitchen, created by Design Galleria, features a massive marble island and state-of-the-art appliances. The breakfast room opens onto a large loggia with a fireplace and grilling station. There’s also an elevator, a whole-house generator, and a home automation system.

The terrace level features views of a lake and includes an in-law suite, 10-seat theater, billiards room, and custom wine cellar. There are also outdoor entertaining spaces that wrap around a double–infinity edge pool and spa.

The homeowners especially love the expansive grounds and lake, noting that their children have spent many happy hours fishing and swimming as well as shooting hoops on the sports court. They also appreciate the estate’s privacy, which they say is resort-like in its serenity.

With two of their four children away at college and another about to graduate from high school, the homeowners have decided to downsize. They plan to stay in the area, though, splitting their time between Atlanta and a nearby weekend retreat.

This Buckhead home, located at 1325 Monte Carlo Drive, is on the market for $6,200,000. For more information, contact Debra Johnston of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Georgia Properties at 404-312-1959 or debra.johnston@bhhsgeorgia.com.
