Some of the most delectable ribs in Georgia can be found 40 minutes north of Atlanta at Zeigler’s BBQ & Catering. After just one bite of that rosy-pink flesh, you’ll be convinced that the drive to Acworth was worth it. The bark-heavy brisket, with a near perfect meat-to-fat ratio, is no slouch either. All of Zeigler’s barbecue meats are rubbed with Bad Byron’s Butt Rub, which is displayed all over the restaurant. The meat is then smoked using only pecan wood in a Southern Pride smoker. Depending on which day you visit, there are specials, and you should consider yourself lucky if smoked meatloaf is on offer. The vibe at the family-run establishment is friendly and relaxed, and though most of the sides are forgettable, do yourself a favor and order the okra—and in lieu of other sides, indulge in Zeigler’s achingly good banana pudding. Around the holidays, Zeigler’s lives up to the “catering” part of its name by providing all sorts of large-format meats, including smoked turkeys.
