The Empty Stocking Fund

MISSION
Since 1927, The Empty Stocking Fund has been bringing holiday season joy to the lives of disadvantaged children throughout metro Atlanta. With the acquisition of the Kids in Need school supply distribution program, we have tripled our impact from serving about 50,000 children during the holiday season to serving more than 150,000 children year-round. Already this year we have distributed class kits containing sets of core school supplies like pencils, paper, folders, notebooks, and more to more than 4,000 teachers at Title I schools throughout Georgia, reaching more than 100,000 students. We also distributed more than 8,000 backpack kits to students at back-to- school events.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
The Empty Stocking Fund leverages a unique model in order to allow us to serve more children with fewer resources. As such, we are unable to effectively distribute products donated through drives, with the one exception being backpacks. We rely almost entirely on financial contributions with which we purchase items in bulk quantities from wholesale vendors at a fraction of their retail cost. Supporters can lead Sponsor-A-Child campaign fundraisers on our behalf—including a GIVE Atlanta campaign!
