Atlanta 2040: What life will look like in the city’s third century

We won’t report to the office every day

The global workforce is going to change more in the next 10 to 15 years than it has in the history of organized work. The chief drivers will be technology and digital capability. The number of people who go to an office every day will dwindle. The agile workforce—temps, contractors, freelancers—will grow exponentially. And automation, robotics, and artificial intelligence will become more proficient. Many people get frightened and wonder, “Is a robot going to take over my job?” Probably not, but technology will change where and how work gets done. What hours it gets done in will become less important.
