Dr. John Giesler, an Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society graduate of The Ohio State University College of Medicine, completed his radiation oncology training at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Since 1993, Dr. Giesler, a board-certified radiation oncologist, has been a senior partner under the umbrella of Radiation Oncology Services, a leader in radiation oncology in metro Atlanta since 1975.
Colleagues have long recognized Dr. Giesler for his vast experience in the ever-changing complexities of cancer care. Many patients benefit from his expertise in advanced radiation therapy techniques: Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy, Image Guided Radiation Therapy, Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy, Gamma Knife Radiosurgery, and brachytherapy for gynecologic and prostate cancers.
For almost 30 years, Dr. Giesler has actively participated alongside his partners in a weekly evidence-based peer review conference. Patients benefit from this consensus-based approach, which ensures their treatment plan is consistent with national standards. “Our collective commitment to state-of-the-art cancer care has always been our top priority,” Dr. Giesler says.
Dr. Giesler is the longtime medical director of Southern Crescent Radiation Oncology Center, where he has been instrumental in maintaining the center’s accredited cancer program. In addition, he is a certified member of Piedmont’s MD Anderson Cancer Network. Dr. Giesler enjoys privileges at Southern Regional Medical Center, Piedmont Atlanta, Piedmont West, Piedmont Henry, Piedmont Newnan, Piedmont Fayette, WellStar Spalding, and WellStar Cobb Hospital.
Although the practice of medicine occupies much of Dr. Giesler’s time, his three children—Morgan, John and Matthew—are his greatest pride and joy.
