If you really wanted to, you could wake up Saturday morning, slide headfirst down a giant inflatable slide, sip on (quite) a few beers, watch dogs defy gravity, and finish the night by donning tights and a cape and boozing it up super hero–style. But pure mortals should probably stick to participating in just a few of this weekend’s events.

Beer Carnival
The former Winter Beer Carnival moves to a warmer date but promises the same 100 beer samplings and quirky midway games at Atlantic Station. Just be sure you don’t have too many before you attempt the “surgery” game. Saturday 1 p.m. thebeercarnival.com

Hogs and Hops
Beer and barbecue are feted at Masquerade Music Park. Saturday, 2 p.m. hogsandhopsatlanta.com

Festival on Ponce
Sure, the arts, food, and music are great. But the real showstopper is the setting: the Frederick Law Olmsted–designed linear park along Ponce de Leon Avenue. Saturday and Sunday. festivalonponce.com

R.O.C Race 5k
If you ever wanted to simultaneously run a 5k and be a contestant on Wipeout, this crazy Turner Field obstacle course is just for you. Watch out for the wrecking ball. Saturday, 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. rocrace.com/atlanta

Super Hero Pub Crawl
Hosted by one of Atlanta’s top nerd spots, Diesel, the four participating Virginia-Highland bars will each offer a specialty shot based on comic book stars such as the Flash and X-Men’s Mystique. Saturday 4 p.m. superheropubcrawl.blogspot.com

Incredible Dog Challenge
High-flying, disc-catching, dock-diving wonderdogs compete in Olympic Park during the Eastern regionals of this national contest. Friday and Saturday. centennialpark.com

An Unpredictable Evening with Todd Rundgren
Hell, we’re going to go out on a limb and make a prediction: Rundgren will knuckle under and play “Hello It’s Me” as an encore. Sunday, 8 p.m. variety-playhouse.com
