Standby for a minor moment of self-promotion: On Monday, May 21, the magazine took home four awards at the City and Regional Magazine Association’s annual ceremony in Vegas (the Pulitzers for city mags), winning for:

Writer of the YearJustin Heckert; in case you needed yet another reason to read his stellar piece on Vaughn’s tornado and the AIDS story you’ll never forget
Designer of the YearEric Capossela
Special IssueHollywood of the South
Multiplatform Storytelling50th Anniversary, which included video interviews, cover galleries, profile pieces, timelines, a museum exhibit, and a free digital edition, to name but a few of the package’s many elements

Sure, we were nominated for eleven awards total, but we’re more than happy to dominate the Big Ones. (Though Bill Addison was robbed.)
