Standby for a minor moment of self-promotion: On Monday, May 21, the magazine took home four awards at the City and Regional Magazine Association’s annual ceremony in Vegas (the Pulitzers for city mags), winning for:
Writer of the Year — Justin Heckert; in case you needed yet another reason to read his stellar piece on Vaughn’s tornado and the AIDS story you’ll never forget
Designer of the Year — Eric Capossela
Special Issue — Hollywood of the South
Multiplatform Storytelling — 50th Anniversary, which included video interviews, cover galleries, profile pieces, timelines, a museum exhibit, and a free digital edition, to name but a few of the package’s many elements
Sure, we were nominated for eleven awards total, but we’re more than happy to dominate the Big Ones. (Though Bill Addison was robbed.)
