Atlanta: No. 9 city for asthma

Atlanta made it onto yet another Top Ten list. This time, we’re the ninth worst city for asthma, in a ranking of asthma capitals by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

Risk factors that contribute to the “most challenging places to live with asthma” include high levels of year-round pollen, air pollution, the use of asthma medication, and public smoking laws.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, about one in every eight adults in the state has asthma. About 9 percent of children have asthma in Georgia.
