Two new polls show Newt Gingrich ahead of Romney in South Carolina. The Real Clear Politics poll of polls still has Romney ahead though. (UPDATE: Newt is ahead of Mitt by 6 percent in Public Policy Polling’s just released survey).
Can Newt win on Saturday? I don’t know. In his favor, his polling surge is timed well. And Rick Perry is dropping out, which should be worth a few more percentage points.
The big question marks are ABC’s pending interview with his ex-wife Marianne, and of course tonight’s debate on CNN.
