Set sail with Mary Kay Andrews

The Atlanta author is inviting readers aboard her first celebrity cruise

What does New York Times best-selling author Mary Kay Andrews have in common with the iconic rock band Kiss? Aside from a shared love of cosmetics, that is? They’re both set to sail with fans in the coming months. But no, the beloved Atlanta author of chick lit novels, including Hissy Fit, Deep Dish, Savannah Breeze and her latest summer read, Ladies Night, is not joining the Kiss Army.
Thanks to the folks at Celebrity Cruises and cruisechick.com, Andrews’ readers can vacation with her to the Caribbean with stops in San Juan and St. Thomas for a week, beginning February 8 aboard the Celebrity Reflection and departing from Miami.

During the voyage, MKA’s loyal readers will score a meet and greet with the author (who also writes under her old AJC newspaper reporter byline Kathy Trocheck), enjoy a cocktail party, book signing, Q&A session and “surprise activities with MKA.” In other words, you may just have an opportunity to go “junking” with the writer in ramshackle antiques outlets somewhere in suburban San Juan. Fittingly, the cruise ends on Valentine’s Day. Prices start at $1,259 per person for an ocean view state room with balcony (hair dryer included!).

Cruise Planners rep. Nancy Yoffee is handling reservations for the outing and can be reached at 888-579-3082. If you’re among the first 50 fans who book by September 1, you’ll receive a private photo shoot with MKA herself and a complimentary portrait together.

Granted, I was anxious to grill her about her shuffleboard game and crack Charo jokes aplenty, but I’m going to respect MKA’s anvil-like deadline dangling over her head this week as she scurries to finish Christmas Bliss, her new holiday novella, set for release in October. The book reunites readers with Andrews’ Savannah Breeze heroine Weezie Foley as she’s — spoiler alert — about to marry her chef boyfriend Daniel Stipanek. She’s due to slap a “The End” on the tale today.
