Amy Smilovic, owner and designer behind global fashion label Tibi
Beauty secret: Tammy Fender organic skin care, Bobbi Brown makeup, Devachan’s “No-Poo” no-lather shampoo
Fashion icons: Patti Smith, Katharine Hepburn, Charlotte Rampling
Spring mood board: Gray tire tracks, desert skylines, natural fibers like linen and dip-dyed denim
Dining: Del Posto, Babbo, and Lupa in NYC; 4th of May Cafe and Southern Soul Barbeque on St. Simons Island
Indulgence: We treat ourselves to the Cloister at Sea Island every summer and Christmas. I designed a suite there, and I love the remote location and sense of family.
Go-to look: Tibi coat and flat boots, Balenciaga chunky sweater, R13 denim, Céline bag
Listening to: Johnny Cash and Nicolas Jaar
Last book: The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri
Interiors: We did a collaboration with Flavor Paper a few years ago, and I’ve used the wallpaper in several rooms in my home (pictured), along with Tibi fabrics on chairs and curtains.
Spring shoe: Tibi jeweled mule
Hobbies: Sketching. And driving my kids to hockey and tennis practice.
Bijoux: Our capsule collection with Los Angeles–based Anita Ko. Her floating earrings, knuckle ring, and dagger necklace are clean and minimal but make a statement.
Amy Smilovic, the owner and designer behind global fashion label Tibi, looks to the laid-back ease and natural beauty of her native St. Simons Island for inspiration. She now lives in Greenwich, Connecticut, but returns home often to visit her parents and her island warehouse and outlet, which is run by her mother (her father is an artist). It’s one of just two Tibi boutiques; the other is in Manhattan’s Soho. Smilovic, whose spring collection is all feminine trenches, fringe, eyelet, and flatforms, will show her fall collection at New York fashion week this month. Here, what’s on her mood board and mind.
