Every year around this time, Atlantans ricochet back and forth between “fake fall” and “summer 2.0.” It’s a reality that guides our dining decisions, especially when it comes to eating outdoors. When the timing is right, and the weather is somewhere between steamy and blustery, enjoying a meal alfresco is one of the best ways to relish this short, spellbinding season.

With numbers steadily increasing since the 1970s, Caribbeans officially account for 85,000 of metro Atlanta’s 6 million people. That number will shock some readers for a couple of reasons. The first is what I like to call “undercover Caribbeans.” There are a lot of people in this city who you would never know are Caribbean.

We recruited Sarah Pierre, owner of 3 Parks Wine Shop in Glenwood Park, to do a blind tasting of wines we collected while exploring North Georgia’s wine country.

With more restaurants intent on offering food that travels well, the options for picnic fare are arguably better than ever.
