We spoke to famous Atlanta chefs—Asha Gomez, formerly of Cardamom Hill and Spice to Table, Justin Anthony of True Story Brands, and Ford Fry of the Optimist, Superica, St. Cecilia, and more—about their favorite room in the house: the kitchen.

Rusty Bowers wants to help showcase local farmers on a larger platform. “Now that we both have wonderful infrastructure in place, the next step was opening a high-end store that people can come to from all over Atlanta,” he says. “We want it to be a little culinary, meat driven mecca.”
With their tricked-out kitchen and beautifully landscaped yard, it’s obvious that entertaining is a priority for this family. Recently I was fortunate to join them for a summer cookout.
The Big Green Egg derives from a simple idea with an ancient lineage, as evidenced by pottery shards of cooking vessels in middens around the world. More specifically, it’s an updated iteration of a commonplace Asian rice cooker: the kamado, a Japanese word that translates as “place for the cauldron.”
