Tech-savvy bike rental programs are rolling far beyond the BeltLine
The February debut of Carrollton’s 50-bike fleet was one of the strongest launches that Zagster, the system’s Massachusetts-based provider, had ever seen. Nationwide, only Kennesaw’s bike-share program had more rides per bike straight out of the gate. As of March, 2,200 people—nearly 10 percent of Carrollton’s population—had signed up.
Smyrna paves the way for riders with new bike-share program
340 residents have signed up for the mostly free program, which launched last September. The fleet of bikes—managed by Zagster, a Massachusetts-based vendor, and tracked by antitheft geofencing technology—is spread among four stations that operate like kiosks; each one is near the city’s 12-mile network of multiuse trails.
