Update: GDOT gives $42 million to Cobb for transportation projects—including some near the Braves stadium

As it turns out, Cobb County didn’t get everything from the state they asked for to spruce up the area near the Braves’ new home. Of Cobb’s $101 million in funding requests, the Marietta Daily Journal reports, GDOT signed off on $42 million for projects to help address congestion.

We tested Amazon’s new one-hour delivery service in Atlanta

Last month, Amazon rolled out its Prime Now one-hour delivery service to Atlanta. There are a few situations—a hangover, a colicky baby, an “Orange Is the New Black” binge—in which we could imagine being too desperate for essentials to get off the couch, let alone leave home to run errands. But could Prime Now help us out of more prosaic dilemmas? We constructed a few plausible scenarios, synchronized our watches, and placed orders at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, from six metro neighborhoods.

With just two seasons left at Turner Field before they decamp to Cobb, a look back at the Braves’ top 10 wins in the city of Atlanta

The Braves will leave Atlanta for Cobb County after the 2016 season. But in essence, they’re already gone. Las Vegas oddsmakers have them losing more games this season than all but four MLB teams. Barring a miracle showing, what’s an Atlanta fan to do? Well, you could embrace the sorrow and reminisce with us. Through six decades in our city, the Braves gave us some wonderful memories.

Braves release new flyover of SunTrust Park site

Unless you're still dizzy from the virtual flyover of the new Falcons stadium, we've got a look-in on the metro's other big sports construction project. Not to be outdone by the their soon-to-be-former in-town neighbors and true to their conservative Cobb roots, the Braves have taken a much more realistic approach to their video.

The Braves released new stadium renderings, none of which are official

It’s been a busy season for the Atlanta Braves and their future home in Cobb County. The past few weeks have seen heavy machinery on the ground, and last night, the development team for the $400 million mixed-use complex was formally announced. Today, new images of the stadium were released–and although we have to admit that a few of them are rather stunning, it’s important to realize that nothing pictured is official.

In case you missed it, the new Atlanta Braves stadium site is under construction. See what it looks like right now.

The Atlanta Braves' up-and-down streakiness has left them one game behind the Washington Nationals in the NL East (at least, that is, until the Nats play tonight). In the midst of this season's roller-coaster ride, some may have forgotten about the team's new stadium in Cobb County set to open in 2017. And the warm and fuzzy feelings from the weekend’s Hall of Fame inductions of Bobby Cox, Tom Glavine, and Greg Maddux might have just been enough to put outrage about the planned relocation on the back burner for most fans. (We stress: Most; not all.)

Cobb waiting for official approval of stadium bond financing

Cobb County officials went into extra innings Monday trying to get bond financing approved for the Atlanta Braves’ new stadium. But it’ll be weeks before they know if they won.
