The Year in Food: The most important things that happened in Atlanta’s restaurant scene in 2018
Looking beyond such fanfare as the opening of Tiny Lou’s and the rise of fast-casual everything, what else happened in the food world this year—and what does it say about Atlanta? We received a few snubs on the national stage, which might suggest that our dining scene is faltering. It could also be that we’re currently stewing on our most promising culinary ideas and talent.
What’s new and what you can’t miss at Atlanta Food & Wine Festival 2018
Along with three days of tasting tents, the festival features a wide variety of dinners, parties, and learning sessions and hands-on workshops, with notable chefs, restaurateurs, and mixologists such as Justin Anthony (Yebo Beach Haus), Meherwan Irani (Chai Pani), John Castellucci (Castellucci Hospitality Group), Eddie Hernandez (Taqueria del Sol), and Paul Calvert and Greg Best (Ticonderoga Club) presenting.
Anna Russ left a career in oncology research to start a holistic tea company: Teaney
Part-time Atlantan Anna Russ left a corporate job in oncology research to focus on Ayurvedic medicine, including a line of holistic teas: Teaney. The easy-to-make teas (they require no steeping, just mixing in milk or water) have already amassed a fan base in Atlanta.
Pinewood Forest’s first restaurant will feel “like you’re going to a friend’s house for dinner”
At the new mixed-use community across the street from the mammoth Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Fayetteville, Braise, will be an intimate, 30-seat restaurant that serves many of its meals family-style.

Thousands of festivalgoers, chefs, mixologists, cookbook authors, and other food and drink authorities descended upon Atlanta over the weekend for the 5th annual Atlanta Food & Wine festival held at the Loews Hotel in Midtown.
