Have a meal al fresco with the whole family: Where to find Atlanta’s dog- and kid-friendly patios

Finding kid-friendly restaurants can be an onerous task; finding ones with patios that embrace kids and well-behaved four-legged family members can seem downright impossible. Atlanta has plenty of outdoor options for dining al fresco, but some are more equipped to handle the entire family than others. Atlanta is in a tasty “Neo-Neapolitan” pizza renaissance

One thing I noticed on my return to Atlanta after a couple of years: major shifts in the local pizza scene. This new Neo-Neapolitan movement in Atlanta—“a pizza renaissance,” ventures chef Jake Pollitz at Staplehouse in Old Fourth Ward—is essentially an aftereffect of the Covid-19 pandemic. Popular chefs and restaurateurs like Ford Fry, Linton Hopkins, Tal Baum, and Ron Hsu are back, bringing their creative fare to new locations, while newcomers such as Anthony Spina, Jr., hit the scene.

O-Ku founder brings Indaco to the BeltLine in early 2023

Indigo Road Hospitality Group—the company behind O-Ku and Oak Steakhouse—is opening its Charleston-based Italian restaurant Indaco along the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail. “We take the concept of handmade pastas and wood-burning pizzas and let the chefs do what they want,” says Indigo Road founder Steve Palmer.

Located next to its Oak Steakhouse at Avalon in Alpharetta, Colletta will begin serving pizza and pasta February 5.
