Ever since Bad Bunny's DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS released in January, salsa dancing has been given an unlikely footing across metro Atlanta and beyond. Longtime dance instructor Carrie Thomas says she never would have guessed that she would be teaching salsa outside of the city limits. And yet these days, students are flocking to her private salsa classes around Acworth, Dallas, Marietta, and Douglasville.

We asked a cohort of Atlanta chefs and tastemakers to share their favorite spots for cheap eats around town.

This is not chef Hector Santiago's first tapas rodeo. His new spot in Ponce City Market may be surrounded by spendy shops, but his passion, mission, and the occasional guest flamenco dancer make you feel as if you’ve strolled in from the streets of Barcelona or Madrid, and less as if you’ve just walked out of the nearby Williams-Sonoma.

Hector Santiago fell in love with Spain the first time he visited about 15 years ago. Since then, he’s been trying to recreate the energy of the buzzing city centers he encountered there. He craves the feel of the packed restaurants and bars with patrons standing around high-top tables, sharing pintxos and tapas. That’s what he hopes to bring to Ponce City Market with the opening of a tapas bar called La Metro, slated to take over the former Biltong Bar space in May or June.
