Due to flood risk, Lifeline Animal Project asks for help fostering or adopting dogs from old Fulton shelter

Atlanta shelter Lifeline Animal Project sent out a call for help across social media today, asking Atlantans to consider temporarily fostering or adopting 60 dogs currently housed at the facility's former shelter at 860 Marietta Boulevard Northwest. The shelter says the building has a history of flooding and is concerned about floods with Hurricane Helene's impending arrival.

Finally some good news: Atlantans are adopting so many pets that one rescue group can hardly keep up

In a month-long period ending April 13, LifeLine had tallied 925 adoptions and 946 foster placements (1,871 animals total) at its three facilities, trouncing the tally for the entirety of March and April last year by about 200 pets.

On December 3, nearly 100 dogs were rescued from a house fire in south Fulton County, the apparent victims of an animal hoarding situation. The 20 that remained at the Fulton County shelter are now ready to find a new home.
