No kid dreams of waiting tables when he grows up. At least, that’s what we learned from five of Atlanta’s veteran servers, who’ve each spent 20 to 45 years taking orders, filling glasses, and brushing crumbs from tables. So what makes someone stick with this job for their entire life?

Taste of Atlanta is only a couple of weeks away. This year’s food fest, held October 25 through 27 at Tech Square, features samples from more than ninety local restaurants, four stages of cooking demonstrations, a barcraft competition, and a “Taste Revival” kickoff event hosted by Ron Eyester of Rosebud, the Family Dog, and Timone’s.

He had a personal light bulb moment and decided that his restaurants would service any reasonable customer request.
