Making the most of a 1920s Poncey-Highland house, architect Roger DeWeese tapped into unused attic space to create a spacious master bath. “Since the upstairs windows look directly into a tree canopy, we made it a modern ‘treehouse’ experience.”

Bravo to kitchens that function well—without a predictable recipe of ingredients. For a clean look, builder and designer Pam Sessions located the refrigerator and small appliances in an adjacent pantry and forewent the ubiquitous barstools for a luxurious banquette.

Combine a ’70s lounge with an old-school Western lodge, and you’ll get this funky den, says interior designer Beth Kooby Sobbott. She created a cozy place for the Marietta homeowner to play slide guitar and wet his whistle.

Loving all things midcentury, Laird Memory and her husband, Matt Bunting, updated their circa-1951 ranch off Collier Road while keeping the era’s cool vibe. The remodeled dining room (which was once a porch) features 11-foot-tall ceilings, oversized windows, and some sassy decor.

Light and understated was never the personality of this loft—or its owner—says interior designer Gina Sims, who amped up this plain kitchen with layers of bold features. Homeowner Cati Teague specified “awesome and green,” which sent Sims on a hunt for the perfect backsplash tile.

Who says a nursery can only have one theme? “The jumping-off point was somewhere along the lines of midcentury-global-woodlands,” says designer Tyler Papp of Heather Fulkerson Interiors, who was guided by a Pinterest board from homeowner Lauren Mason on behalf of baby Parker.

While planning her family’s new house in Serenbe, yoga instructor Jeny Mathis dreamed up an in-ground labyrinth and yoga studio as the heart of the backyard design, for aesthetics and spiritual and physical wellness. She uses the space for personal respite as well as a setting for her business, Zoetic, which offers yoga, meditation classes, and retreats.

For instant glamour in a room, add a little sheen—or a lot. When interior designer William Peace of Peace Design was tasked with updating this circa-1992 condo at the Four Seasons, he layered glossy pinks and warm silver tones in the homeowner’s master bathroom for an ultra-feminine, Hollywood-style result.

Year-round, Tammy and Christopher Weiser and their two boys head to this porch addition, since it’s able to accommodate all seasons with a fireplace, ceiling fan, and relaxing swinging bed. Interior designer Kate Hayes, who supervised the remodel, offers advice on designing an outdoor space.

Blue cabinetry’s a “thing?” We’re seeing the sultry hue in kitchens everywhere, from the palest turquoise to deep indigo. In Kathryn and Matt Purselle’s remodeled Decatur kitchen, Terracotta Design Build’s Nicole Jui picked classic elements like Shaker-style cabinetry and marble countertops to fit the 1930s house—but added a jolt of blue for fun.
