Hot Shop: Nandina

Nowhere in the city will you find a greater architectural range than in Inman Park—where homes vary from grand Victorian mansions to mid-rise condos. The contrast doesn’t faze Nandina Home & Design, a home furnishings store and interior design studio that opened in the neighborhood last year.

Hot Shop: Jonathan Adler

Atlantans have long been familiar with Jonathan Adler’s signature white pottery, offered by style-forward retailers such as Pieces in Buckhead and Heliotrope in Decatur. Now the New York–based designer has brought his entire “happy chic” line to an eponymous store on Howell Mill Road.

Hot Shop: ReMixx

Let’s hear it for shopping in the suburbs. Wear, which we declared the best OTP boutique of 2010, has finally secured its own digs now that Johns Creek’s Red Twig has closed. Duluth’s T., with labels such as Rag & Bone, gets better with age. And earlier this year, Roswell welcomed another hip destination.

Hot Shop: Vintage & Vogue

Historic Roswell’s newest addition, the consignment shop Vintage & Vogue, sells retro pieces from bygone eras (the “vintage”) alongside contemporary styles from prominent designers (the “vogue”).

Hot Shop: Emerlyn & Ester

Celebrity boutiques are usually hit or miss. Usher ex Tameka Raymond’s ever-expanding, Beulah-loving Estella in Roswell was a hit. Real Housewife Kandi Burruss’s Local Celebrity–carrying Tags in Smyrna wasn’t. Emerlyn & Ester shows promise.

Formalities: Rik Ducar

If you see an actor donning Halston at the Oscars on the 27th, he may have gotten the outfit from the Los Angeles branch of Rik Ducar.

Hot Shop: The Foundry

It’s the end of the world as we knew it, and it feels fine. Several years ago, World of Rugs started carrying home furnishings. Last year it added a custom design center and accessories.

Hot Shop: Bee

Eco-designer Jillian Pritchard Cooke is part evangelist, part entrepreneur. It’s the evangelist part that recently landed her in an Atlanta delegation (along with Mayor Kasim Reed) that met with HRH The Prince of Wales.

Hot Shop: Vetted

With her hair still pulled back into her signature tight bun, April Wilkins has returned. A ten-year veteran of Saks, the PR doyenne left Atlanta for South Florida three years ago, but a retail shake-up on East Paces brought her back to Buckhead.

Hot Shop: Deka

Thanks to the nearby Streets of Buckhead’s perennial “under construction” status, Deka’s Jim Whitlow began to tire of his athletic apparel boutique’s poorly trafficked location on Pharr Road, and he started to look for a different outpost.
