This year, the BeltLine takes center stage once again, with restaurants and bars popping up along the Eastside Trail, as well as in the West End. We’ll see a balance of quick comfort food spots and fine dining. Popular chefs and restaurateurs like Ford Fry, Linton Hopkins, Tal Baum, and Ron Hsu are back, bringing their creative fare to new locations, while newcomers such as Anthony Spina, Jr., hit the scene.

The last time we published a best-restaurants issue was approximately three millennia ago, in June 2019. So we’re highlighting the best places that have opened recently, but we also wanted to spotlight some places that aren’t necessarily new but are worth honoring: places that take up a little room in our hearts, for some reason, for any reason at all.

Located on Moreland Avenue a few blocks from East Atlanta Village, Pollo Supremo is slated to open by September.

When I got back home to Atlanta, I wanted to eat something that would take me back to Mexico City. Then, I remembered all the good things I’d heard about Supremo, the new taco joint on Memorial Drive in Grant Park. From the first bite of my carne asada taco, I was transported.

The more you’re able to bring their food home now, the more likely they’ll be around to serve you in their dining rooms later.

Growing up in France, I didn’t know there was such a thing as a snack until, at the age of 22, I was gifted a bag of Fritos brought from America in a friend’s suitcase. After decades in the States, have I finally adjusted to a life of Doritos and potato chips? Mostly yes, but I hate myself for it.
