Healthy, fast-casual, and superfood-focused restaurants. That may make sense given the popularity of kale this year, but then again, bacon is held in pretty high esteem these days, too.
It’s a wide world of booze out there
For a few years there, it seemed that bourbon was the dominant spirit in Atlanta, a natural result of local (and national) restaurants embracing Southern foods and cooking techniques. One obvious outcome of the trend was Southern Art and Bourbon Bar, which opened in 2011: It occupies a space in the InterContinental Buckhead that was previously a French restaurant and accompanying cognac bar. Bourbon Bar offers more than seventy varieties of our region's whiskey, specializing in flights but also offers cocktails like Run for the Black Roses, made with Woodford Reserve, blackberry shrub, mint, soda, and rose water.
Roswell’s Table & Main duo to open Osteria Mattone in the fall
Last spring, Table & Main duo Ryan Pernice and Ted Lahey announced plans to open an Italian restaurant called Osteria Mattone on Canton Street. Since then, Pernice and Lahey have been busy with research—including an eye-opening trip to Italy. Below, Pernice shares plans for the restaurant, which is slated to open this fall.

Watershed on Peachtree will be hosting the Atlanta Community Food Bank’s Supper Club dining event. 20 percent of each diner’s tab for the evening benefits Atlanta’s Table, the prepared food rescue project of the Food Bank.
