When the folks at Twain’s renovated Decatur’s Suburban Lanes, they did more than just upgrade the bowling shoes.

Ben Horgan and Uri, Ethan, and Talia Wurtzel renovated the Suburban Lanes space into the family-friendly but still cool—and a little bit kitschy—Comet this summer. It boasts 32 lanes, a shuffleboard area, a sprawling bar, and a menu from Savannah Sasser that gives a gastropub feel to straight-from-the-fryer food.

After more than 20 years in Decatur, the owners of Twain’s Brewpub & Billiards are opening a second entertainment venue this fall. Comet Pub & Lanes will replace the existing Suburban Lanes with a bowling, amusement, and dining spot similar to the Painted Pin but with a “funkier, vintage” vibe, says co-owner Ethan Wurtzel.
