Atlanta Magazine’s June 2023 Issue

A note from Sean McGinnis, President & Publisher:

Got a long grocery list? Not sure where to pick up that very specific item? The good news is that Atlanta has a wide array of grocery stores and supermarkets. The better news is that our June issue provides a comprehensive guide to the city’s groceries and the stories behind them. From bakeries to butchers to farmer’s markets, we will give you the inside scoop on best sellers and products you may want in your cart. Keep flipping and you will find our curated list of 90+ stores to explore in Atlanta and what they offer. Feel free to peruse, and who knows, you may find your new one-stop-shop.

Mariah Parker has already made a mark in a variety of spaces. They are a successful rapper, an activist, a PhD, and a former county commissioner in Athens. Now as an Atlantan, they have become an organizer for an ambitious new labor union. Read more about Mariah’s journey and how they continue to impact their communities, old and new.

Young trans people, along with their families and medical providers, have been dealing with a wave of animus. With the advancement of Senate Bill 140, medical treatment for trans and nonbinary kids has been restricted. In this issue, we explore how this affects medical and mental health organizations in the U.S. as well as the patients whose lives will be impacted by these restrictions.

Last, but certainly not least, we are pleased to introduce our 2023 Women Making a Mark honorees. We are highlighting 12 exceptional women and one Rising Star who have exhibited tireless dedication and leadership in their communities. We invite you to read more about the powerful women that make a positive impact on our city.
