Associate Editor, Atlanta magazine
is the city’s premier magazine, reaching a monthly audience of more than 400,000 readers. Since 1961, Atlanta has served as the authority on the metro area, providing a mix of long-form nonfiction, lively lifestyle coverage, in-depth service journalism, and literary essays, columns, and profiles. We have been recognized regionally and nationally for journalism and design excellence, with more than 300 regional and national awards, including last year’s ASME nomination for General Excellence.

Job overview:
Atlanta magazine is looking for an experienced, creative, highly motivated editor to oversee a broad range of duties. This editor will plan, assign, write, and edit both digital and print content. They will also help with reading proofs and managing the production process.

Our team is highly collaborative. All editors and art directors are expected to help brainstorm concepts for service packages, front-of-book sections, and special projects and to work closely together to see them through to completion. Atlanta is a general interest publication, so applicants should have a strong appreciation for news, investigative, and lifestyle journalism. We are also looking for someone who is endlessly curious about and engaged with our city and all the people who live in the entire metro area.

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or communications
  • At least two years of experience writing or editing professionally
  • Strong communications skills
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other editors and art directors
