Assistant Editor, Atlanta Magazine Custom Media

Job Overview: 

Atlanta magazine is currently seeking a confident, hard-working, self-motivated individual to oversee the magazine’s special advertising sections and contribute copy to sales and marketing campaigns. The editor will also coordinate digital and social media strategies for Southbound magazine, a biannual ancillary travel publication. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as strong organizational skills are a must, as the editor will be working with magazine account executives and clients daily. The editor, who will serve on the editorial staff of the magazine’s custom media division, will also be afforded opportunities to contribute to custom and ancillary publications.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Soliciting, writing, and editing copy for Atlanta magazine’s special advertising sections
  • Contributing copy to the magazine’s sales and marketing campaigns
  • Coordinating digital and social media strategies for Southbound magazine
  • Contributing to Atlanta magazine’s ancillary and custom publications, including Southbound magazine and Explore Georgia travel guide

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or communications
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Independent judgment and the ability to juggle a variety of duties
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Proven track record of accuracy, attention to detail, and timeliness
  • Commitment to researching problems and providing solutions to clients
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with InDesign preferred
  • Familiarity with WordPress and B2C email marketing is a plus

Associate Art Director, Atlanta Magazine Custom Media

Job Overview:

Atlanta magazine is currently seeking a skilled, hard-working, self-motivated individual to handle multiple graphic design projects in the magazine’s custom media division (AMCM).

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with the sales department and editors to create concepts and design special advertising sections for Atlanta magazine
  • Creating and trafficking print and digital ads for Atlanta magazine, the company website, and ancillary and custom products
  • Producing sales and marketing collateral
  • Serving as project manager and working with clients, editors, and design director to design layouts for custom publications
  • Designing features and departments for Southbound magazine
  • Researching and hiring photographers and illustrators for projects
  • Art directing photo shoots
  • Preparing files for print and reviewing proofs
  • Working under the direction of the editorial director and design director

Successful candidates will possess:

  • BA/BFA in graphic design or visual arts and 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience; publishing background is a plus
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to juggle multiple priorities, plan ahead, and hit deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative nature, as the associate art director will be a part of a larger creative team, including the editorial director, design director, staff editors, contract editors, photographers, and illustrators
  • Experience with pre-press, color correction, and production
